A native of suburban Portland, Oregon, Louis Olenick is in his third year of study pursuing a bachelor's degree in trombone performance at the University of Oregon, where he is a student of Jeffrey Williams. Introduced to music at a young age by his parents, both musicians, Louis began playing the trombone at age eleven. In 2003, as a senior in high school, he placed first in trombone at the Oregon high school State Solo Contest. At UO, he performs on alto, tenor trombones and euphonium in a number of ensembles including the University Symphony Orchestra and Oregon Wind Ensemble, among other groups, as well as working as a freelance low brass instrumentalist/instructor in the Eugene Area.
